Where are you located?

We are located just 2 blocks from the plaza in downtown Santa Fe, walking distance from all downtown hotels and lodging.

Are reservations required?

No reservations required, but we would be happy to save a table for you. Give us a call (505-982-4711) to let us know when you’d like to visit and the number in your party and we’ll get you on the calendar. We also offer private parties (details below).

 

How does the clay experience at the pub work?

The clay experience at the pub is a self-guided hand-building experience. When you arrive, grab a pound of clay from our bartender, choose a seat at any of our tables, and make your own work of art while sipping a craft cocktail surrounded by pottery handmade in Santa Fe. It’s a uniquely Santa Fe experience.

 

Clay = $9/person. We use a sculptural clay which is self-drying and does not need to be fired. Our community tables are stocked with all the tools you’ll need, tempera paints for adding a touch of color, and to-go boxes so you can take your masterpiece home with you.

 

Enter our clay challenge! Each month our bartenders choose a different challenge, and at the end of the month they select a winner who receives a free pair of whiskey cups. Please tidy your own area when you finish, cleaning and returning all tools, paints, and materials to their places.

 

Is there food?

Yes, we specialize in creating curated cheeseboards or tapas plates that complement our beverages and showcase flavors in season at the moment, often from Angela and Jason’s garden. Below are samples of cheeseboards we’ve created recently for private events. Cost: $12/person. Alternative catered food options are also available upon request.

    

What is the cost of drinks?

Our drinks are very affordable, ranging from $4-16/each. We have a full line-up of locally handcrafted cocktails, spirits, and beers as well as non-alcoholic cocktails, espresso, fresh squeezed juices, and artisanal teas. 1 drink minimum/person including children.

 

Children are allowed?

Yes! According to New Mexico law, minors may enter bars, but only if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Each child must be accompanied by their own parent. Please remember that we are a bar, not a school, and make sure that children behave accordingly and are engaged in the clay activity so all guests can enjoy the experience.

 

Do you provide table service?

No, please order from the bar.

 

FAQs regarding hosting a private event at the pub

 

The pub can be rented for private events?

Yes indeed! We love hosting private gatherings—wedding parties, team meet-ups, fundraisers, etc.

 

How big is the space?

The pub is 1000 ft2 and can accommodate up to 50 guests indoors, and we also have an outdoor patio that seats up to 10 people when the weather is nice.

 

Do I need to buy out the entire space for my event?

For groups over 20, we require a full buy-out of the entire space, meaning we will close our doors to regular customers, and you can commandeer the space however you see fit for the duration of your event.

 

For groups under 20 people, although we do not require a full buy-out, we highly recommend it. If you choose not to do a buy-out, there will be other customers in the space during your event, but we will do our best to get all of you in at the same time sitting close to each other.

 

Do you provide clay instructors?

Upon request, we can provide local ceramic artists to facilitate your gathering, teaching basic teqniques and guiding guests throughout the event. Cost: $50/hour per instructor.

 

How many bartenders will I need?

We suggest 1 bartender per 15 guests. The cost is $25/hour per bartender for private parties. However, bartender fee is waived if your bar/clay tab reaches over $850.

 

Taxes? 
Santa Fe tax is 8.19% and applies to entire invoice, including drinks, food, clay, and space fee.

 

What is your standard gratuity rate?

Gratuity is 20% (or a minimum of $100/bartender) and applies to drinks, clay, and food.

 

I’m in! How do I book my private party?

A 50% deposit for space fee will secure the pub for your event, and the remaining 50% is due one month before the event. The tab for drinks, food, clay, and gratuity is separate and paid the day of your event. To book, please send a detailed email indicating preferred time, date, number of guests, and specifications to info@tumblerootpotterypub.com.
